Coronavirus has done huge damage to the U.K. garden industry. Around 2000 garden centres and nurseries were forced to close at the end of March, and hundreds of businesses were badly affected.
This means many orders to growers were cancelled, leaving a huge number of high-quality plants sitting in greenhouses and destined for the bin. The total stock write-off amounted to more than £200 million. Read more about the problem here.
Many Garden Centres are now open again which is fantastic- but lots of people still shielding at home aren't able to reach them. Meanwhile, running Plant Pack has shown that there are many benefits for plant home delivery for people who lack the time to visit garden centres or don't have a car.
